Spontaneity is the best kind of adventure." ~Anonymous
I woke up on Saturday, September 1st ready to go to the beach as my mum and I had planned a week prior. Can You believe, at that point, I had been in Jamaica for a little over a month and had yet to enjoy one of the greatest treasure of the Caribbean, the nice cool, sandy beaches?
The plan was to go to Dunn's River Falls in Saint Ann. We woke early, an ungodly hour that no one has ever seen me wake before, 5 am. I mean who wakes that early? ;) We got ready and were out the door by 6:30 am. We decided to bring along one of my mum's cousins and headed off.
While we were halfway to our destination we stopped to buy food for a picnic. Sitting in the car my mother told me about a place a cousin of mine had gone that she thought was beautiful. We went back and forth on the idea of heading there instead even just to check it out. It was a bit further than where we were initially to go and we had no idea how to get there. (GPS Enter stage right)
Of course, we ended up deciding to go. On our way there we saw so many different fun places that we didn't even know were in the same area. There had to be at least six different water adventures in the same stretch. Now we knew where to go when we needed to find another exciting event.
The place we decided to go to is called Labyrinth or The Old Spanish River Bridge. It is in the mountains and was such a nice and refreshing spot, though I still prefer a beach. Hello, sand. Labyrinth was a clear spring water river it had a shallow end on onside of the bridge and a deeper end on the other. The deep end had a rope swing used to swing off and dive into the river. It was a peaceful spot with not many people and the water was cool.
We didn't spend much time at Labyrinth and eventually headed towards the place of our original plan, Dunn's River Falls, but the experience at Spanish River was surely a wondrous one.
